偏(偏偏)
piān(piān piān )
“偏”或“偏偏”是个虚词,有“故意”、“反而”的意思,表示有意同现实情况相反,或同主观愿望违背。常常与“要”、“不”连用,强调肯定或否定。
will,不表示时态,有“任性”、“执拗”的意思,故可作“偏偏”解。这时的will, would无将来时的概念。
- 我正忙着写东西,可我的小女儿偏偏要问我各种各样的问题。 My little daughter will ask me all sorts of questions when I'm busy writing.
- 滑雪板很难控制,我们要它向东,它偏要向西。 The skis were hard to manage. When we wanted them to go east, they would go west.

当某种行为的内涵达到了极致,就带有了“偏执”的意思,如动词choose, insist, refuse, prefer等就是一例。

利用某些形容词的最高级也可使性质达到极致,从而达到偏执。

- 屋漏偏遭大雨。 The heaviest rain falls on the leaky house.
- 具有讽刺意味的是:对该问题的某个方面,即对公共卫生构成最大危害的那个方面,我们偏偏了解得最少。 It is ironic that we should know the least about that aspect of the problem which poses greatest public health hazard.
“偏”(偏偏)的其他译法。
- 他来找我,我偏偏出差了。 I happened to be away on business when he came to see me.
- 事情的发展偏偏同他的愿望相反。 Things turned out just the opposite to what he wanted.
- 越是小人物,偏偏越是骄傲。 The infinitely little have a pride infinitely great.
“偏”还可用做实词(“偏偏”除外),但应用不如虚词广。译例如下。
