{disclosure of a crime or plot; plot has come to light; secret is out. It is said that in the Song Dynasty, Qin Hui plotted and murdered Yue Fei by the east window in his home, and Ksitigarbha (Overlord of Hell) disguised himself as a monk to bear witness to the east-window plot in the human world, and before long Qin Hui died (Supreme Ruler of Hell Testifying on the East-Window Plot by Kong Wenqing of the Yuan Dynasty). According to Volume 4 of Notes on Touring the West Lake by Tian Rucheng of the Ming Dynasty, after Qin Hui's death, his wife asked a necromancer to hold a religious ceremony for Qin Hui. The necromancer saw Qin bearing an iron cangue and being tortured in Hell, and heard Qin Hui tell him:
‘Please tell my wife that the east-window plot has been exposed.’ Hence the term, referring to the exposure of a crime or plot.}也说 also: 东窗事犯 {dōng chuāng shì fàn}。
