传说汉代淮南王刘安修炼成仙,连鸡狗吃了剩下的仙药也都升了天(见于汉代王充《论衡·道虚》)。后来用 ‘鸡犬升天’ 比喻一个人得势,同他有关系的人也跟着沾光。 {According to a legend in Discourses Weighed in Balance·On Falsehood by Wang Chong of the Han Dynasty, when Liu An, the Prince of Huainan, achieved immortality after taking the pills of immortality he had acquired by practising alchemy, even his chickens and dogs ascended heaven after eating the pills he had left behind.
