(also 抹不开 mòbukāi) 动 (opp. 磨得开) 〈口〉
1   feel embarrassed; be put out:
- 本想说他两句,又怕他脸上磨不开。 I hesitated to criticize him for fear of embarrassing him.
2   unable to act impartially for fear of offending sb. ; afraid of damaging personal relations:
- 他有错误,就该批评,有什么磨不开的? If he's made mistakes, you should tell him and not let personal considerations get in your way.
3   〈方〉 not be convinced; not come round

1. 脸上下不来 {feel embarrassed; be put out}:
- 本想当面说他两句,又怕他脸上~。 {I hesitated to criticize him to his face for fear of making him uncomfortable.}
2. 不好意思 {feel embarrassed (for fear of impairing personal relations, losing face, offending someone, etc.)}:
- 他有错误,就该批评他,有什么~的? {If he's made a mistake, you should criticize him. Why should you hesitate and feel embarrassed?}
3. 〈方 dial.〉想不通;行不通 {be unable to straighten out one's thinking; be unable to come round}:
- 我有了~的事,就找他去商量。 {When I have something I can't straighten out, I would turn to him for advice.}‖
也作 also: 抹不开 {mò·bu kāi}。
