A body area network in the context of this invention is a set of one or more devices wearable on the body and capable of communicating with one another. [...] An example of a device that could form part of a body area network is a hearing aid retransmitter (also known as a bridge), which receives a signal intended for a hearing aid from a wireless system such as Bluetooth(R) or an induction loop, for example, and then retransmits the signal to a hearing aid worn by the user.
近年来，可穿戴计算技术飞速发展，如腕表型计算机等已经在诸多领域得到了广泛应用。这些设备以及一些具有通信功能的传感器和一个附于人体上的主站即可构成一个BAN (Body Area Network) 网络，一般称之为“体域网”。
