Augmentation systems are designed to correct the error that is created when the satellite signal travels through the Earth’s ionosphere and atmosphere. This correction is performed by comparing readings received at a known location with the readings received at a mobile receiver. Another way to increase this accuracy is by combination with another navigation technology; this is known as a hybrid navigation system.
