The Immediate Assignment message is sent using a CCCH (common control channel). The CCCH has a number of resources, some of which are reserved for an AGCH (access grant channel), this being a portion of the CCCH dedicated to sending access grant (e.g. Immediate Assignment) messages.
在GSM（Global System of Mobile communication，全球移动通讯系统）中，CCCH（Common Control Channel，公共控制信道）可以分为PCH（Paging Channel，寻呼信道）和AGCH（Access Grant Channel，准予接入信道），其中：PCH用于基站寻呼移动台；AGCH 用于对基站对移动台的随机接入请求做出应答，即分配一个SDCCH（Standalone Dedicated Control Channel，独立专用控制信道）或直接分配一个TCH（Traffic Channel，业务信道）。
