A prestigious US professional and technical society whose publications, conferences and activities are designed to help advance the art, specifically as regards machinery and system design, language and program development and other related activities. Its objective is to advance all aspects of information processing and to promote the interchange of such techniques between computer specialists and users. It is a member of AFIPS, American Federation of Information Processing Societies.
