声闻四果之一，如来十号之一。指断尽三界见、思之惑，证得尽智，而堪受世间大供养之圣者。是小乘佛教中最高果位。
The term refers to one of the four stages or levels before achieving enlightenment and one of the ten names of the Buddha. Arhat means to be totally free from desire and confusion, and achieve complete intelligence and provisions from the world. It is the highest rank in Theravada Buddhism.
