在佛教中是六道之一，是欲界天的大力神或是半神半人的大力神。阿修罗易怒好斗，骁勇善战，曾多次与提婆神恶战，但阿修罗也奉佛法，是佛教护法神天龙八部之一。
Asura is one of the Six Realms in Buddhism, a being of unusual strength in the Kāma-deva (World of Desire), or a demigod with unusual strength. Asuras are aggressive and skillful demigods, fighting against the Aryadeva. They are also Dharma protectors, and one of the Eight Divisions of Dragons and Devas.
