【英】Shell Instruments
螺贝,唇簧气鸣乐器。用海螺壳制故名。也称“螺”、“海螺”、“螺贝”等名。磨去螺壳尾端作吹口,螺腔为共鸣器,用双唇为簧吹奏。在招集大众时吹之。
An instrument using embouchure to produce sound. It is so named because it is made from a shell. In Chinese, a conch shell, sea snail, and spiral shell refer to the same musical instrument. The end of the shell is rubbed off to make its mouthpiece; the cavity of the shell serves as the resonator and the lips of the player are used to produce the sound. The instrument was often used to call people to muster or to assemble.
