- ‘南越(粤)与汉和亲,乃遣[终]军使南越说其王,欲令入朝,比内诸侯。军自请,愿受长缨,必羁南越王而致之阙下。’后用来指请求杀敌或请求给予任务。 {History of Han·Biography of Zhong Jun:
‘After the Han Dynasty pacified the Kingdom of Southern Yue through marriage, Zhong Jun was dispatched as an envoy to summon the King of Southern Yue to the court as a warning to the various dukes. Zhong Jun requested a long rope from the emperor and pledged that he would use the rope to catch the King of Southern Yue and bring him to His Majesty.’ From this story is derived the saying qingying, meaning to volunteer for battle or a mission}
