四川内江人,1941年访敦煌,临摹莫高窟、榆林窟、西千佛洞壁画,历时近三年,完成作品百余幅。还把三处石窟做了统一编号,并详记莫高窟各窟内容,成《莫高窟记》。从1942年起,曾在国内外举办过多次画展。
A native of Neijiang, Sichuan Province. He visited Dunhuang in 1941, and spent three years copying the Buddhist wall paintings inside the Mogao and Yulin caves and the Western Thousand Buddha Caves. In the process, he made copies of more than 100 paintings. He also numbered the caves at these three sites, and made detailed records of the contents in each cave, which became the Work Notes on the Mogao Grottoes. From 1942 onward, he held several art exhibitions in China and other countries.
